Why is this important to you, and possibly to other young people?

I think the lack of political education that under 18s get is concerning as we grow up in an increasingly political world where social media is creating echo chambers where people are fed extreme political opinions without having learnt the basics.

As the Government has chosen to extend the voting age young people feel they are not ready to have a say because they don’t understand e.g. not understanding the difference between the local and general elections.

What changes would you like to see?

I would like to see political education in schools, this could start small as maybe a select few educated volunteers give assemblies to school students or even distributing a set of key information to be given out by teachers. If we could supply the resources it will be easier for teachers who may fear they will say the wrong thing and can prevent biased views.

How can young people be a part of bringing about these changes?

I think young people could be involved in the running of assemblies or creation/ distribution of educational resources.
