Shape the decisions that impact you. We’re always looking for students aged 13–18 to drive our campaigns, influence policy, and amplify student voices.

No experience is needed and there is no time commitment. You’ll get the support and guidance you need, but we’re also run in a way that volunteers can get stuck in, follow their interests and take a lead on all elements of the organisation.

Actions that volunteers can take:

  • Communications: writing website content, making social media posts, sending out newsletters, designing posters
  • Political engagement: Contacting politicians, organising parliamentary events, gaining support from trade unions and other organisations in the sector
  • Campaigns: designing campaigns, researching campaign topics, connecting with existing student-led campaigns
  • Student engagement: Finding out what students care about and deciding how we gather student views, getting more students involved in NUSS, designing and hosting our welcome calls, hosting socials

Getting started

We organise online using Slack and Google Meets. Here’s how to join:

  1. Register your interest: keep updated with opportunities by signing up for our newsletter
  2. Attend a welcome call: Learn about NUSS, meet other campaigners, and see what we’re up to. Calls are held fortnightly on a Wednesday, 5:45-6pm, just before our regular volunteer call. Just sign up below!
  3. Join Slack: Once you’ve joined a welcome call, we’ll send you some extra information and an invite to the online space we use to communicate as a team.

Ask a teacher to print off a copy of our poster to put up in your school.
